SafeRecall Privacy Policy
Effective date: 11 September 2026
SafeRecall is a browser extension designed to preserve AI conversations in a user-controlled archive, organised by the projects they came from, so that earlier work can be searched, retrieved and continued with its original context intact.
What SafeRecall handles
To provide this function, SafeRecall may process:
Personal communications
The text of AI conversations that SafeRecall captures or saves for the user.
Website content
Visible text, links, images and related information required to preserve a conversation or associated material.
Web and source information
The originating AI platform, page address, project identity, dates and related provenance information needed to identify where an archived conversation came from.
SafeRecall does not intentionally collect or separately profile health information, financial information, passwords, authentication credentials, location data or advertising information. If a user has included sensitive information within a conversation they choose to archive, that information may naturally remain part of the archived conversation.
How the information is used
SafeRecall uses this information only to:
- preserve conversations and associated material;
- organise them by their original project and platform;
- enable local search and retrieval;
- maintain provenance and source context;
- support continuity between earlier and later work.
Where your archive is stored
The current SafeRecall Pilot is local-first.
The working archive and its indexes are stored on the user's own computer using browser and local storage. SafeRecall does not operate a developer-controlled server to which users' archive contents are routinely uploaded.
Users may choose to export, copy or back up their own archive.
Sharing and selling data
SafeRecall does not sell user data.
SafeRecall does not transfer archived conversations or browsing information to advertisers, data brokers or other third parties for advertising, profiling, credit assessment or unrelated purposes.
No human routinely reads a user's SafeRecall archive. A user may voluntarily provide specific material when requesting technical support.
Chrome permissions
SafeRecall requests browser permissions only where they are needed to provide its archive and retrieval functions. These include permissions for local storage, sufficient storage capacity, scheduled background operations and access to supported AI websites from which the user chooses to preserve conversations.
User control and deletion
The archive belongs to the user.
Users can remove saved material from SafeRecall and can remove the extension itself. Locally exported or copied files remain under the user's control and can be deleted using the normal tools on their computer.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
SafeRecall's use and transfer of information received through Chrome complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
User data is used only to provide or improve SafeRecall's disclosed archive, provenance and retrieval functions. It is not used for personalised advertising, unrelated profiling, lending or credit decisions.
Changes to this policy
If SafeRecall's handling of user data changes materially, this privacy policy and the disclosures in the Chrome Web Store will be updated accordingly.
